Jane Doe. One would think anyone who held that label would
embody cynicism, mistrust, and a downright nasty outlook on life. Despite
having led an incredibly harsh life, Jane, a young lady who merely wants to
make her way in life and one day have a family she could love and be loved in
return, is level-headed and appears self-assured.
After taking on a managerial position at an English hotel,
she falls for the mysterious owner, Edward Rochester. After months of keeping
the affair hidden, Jane gives him an ultimatum. Secrets, lies, and violence
follows.
Jane is an incredibly strong individual, forged in violence
with limited expectations of those she meets. One cannot help but get pulled
into her story. She meets every obstacle in her path with a logic born of
necessity.
Edward, tricked into an impossible situation, bears the
weight of his burdens yet protects the one that would see him murdered.
I found this story to be well written with characters that
keep you turning the pages. Though I normally prefer a HEA ending and without
hooks, this author builds a world that holds your interest throughout and
leaves you wanting more. I will definitely read the next book in line.
