The SOS Agency grants one Navy SEAL his most personal mission yet.

Home on leave at his family farm, Navy SEAL Cooper Johnson receives an unexpected assignment: to protect a beautiful socialite on the run from her abusive ex. Grieving his kid sister, a brave cop killed in the line of duty due to a faulty bulletproof vest, Coop is in no mood for work until he meets Meg Taylor. Soon, he finds that riding the land, lovely Meg safe beside him, is a surprising comfort to his heart. But when he discovers Meg's dark past and the evidence she possesses that her ex would kill to keep buried it will take both the cowboy and SEAL within him to get the ultimate justice.

Meg is a woman on the run from her abusive ex. After calling on a sorority sister from college, she becomes part of a program designed to help those in her situation. Her case comes with the added trouble - association with a company manufacturing faulty bulletproof vests.
Cooper Johnson, Navy Seal, is home on leave to help his family after his sister is killed in the line of duty. Accepting a temporary assignment of protecting the friend of his ex-superior’s wife, he spends his off time trying to locate the owner of the company responsible for his sister’s death.
When I read the blurb, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this story to read. It pushed all the right buttons. I loved the story line. The setting wasn’t what I expected but it worked, and worked well. The author did a good job of throwing in some twists and turns and would’ve been great, but I had a few concerns. For a woman thought of as having a spine of steel and running from an abusive ex., I found some of her responses contradictory and the timing of her actions delayed. Also, some borderline TSTL moments pulled me out of the story a little bit.
As far as Cooper, I found him sexy and drool-worthy. Unfortunately, I thought some of his responses ill-timed considering his determination to protect Meg. Still, their emotions felt real and the romantic scenes hot. All in all, I’d give this four stars.
